New York, the largest East coast United States city, situated on the shore of the Atlantic ocean where Hudson river enters the salt waters of the New York bay. The city is spread across several islands in the delta of Hudson river and consists of five major regions, called boroughs.

The most well known, Manhattan - sometimes people think it is the only part of New York as almost all of the skyscrapers and most famous places are there; Brooklyn and Queens are two boroughs located on Long Island, hosting two airports - JFK and LaGuardia; Staten Island, a borough of parks and beaches, the least populated out of all New York boroughs; Bronx, the only borough located on the mainland.

More than 8 million people live in the city itself, but the New York city metropolitan area is a home to more than 19 million people.

The city is located in the New York State, on the most southern part of it and borders New Jersey  and Connecticut states.

The most well known places of interest are: Statue of Liberty, seen from the Staten Island Ferry or designated tours, Empire State Building, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange, Broadway musicals, museums and restaurants. 

New York is a city of immigrants with an extremely diverse population of all races, nationalities and cultures.
